(NL) De eerste 2 weken van september was ik uitgenodigd in Gaza (Palestina) door Theatre Day Productions* (TDP) om een danstheater training te geven aan hun leergierige en hardwerkende eerstejaars studenten en om daarnaast samen met de regisseur Rafat Al-Aydi te werken aan zijn nieuwe productie met de tweedejaars studenten over het thema verbeelding in een opgesloten community en over het kiezen van je eigen pad in een conflict gebied. Tussendoor was er de uitdaging om ook ondersteuning te bieden in de voorbereiding van TDP's jaarlijks Drama Festival dat 15 september van start is gegaan. Een intens verblijf waarin ik iets meer van Gaza heb gezien dan de vorige keren. Naast de ontmoetingen met vriendelijke en gastvrije mensen was het schokkend om in de chaos te zijn die de ingewikkelde situatie oplevert. En deze is zichtbaar in de straten in de vorm van armoede en streetart!!

(FR) Les deux premières semaines de septembre, j'ai été invité à Gaza (Palestine) par Theatre Day Productions* (TDP) pour donner un workshop de danse-théâtre à leurs étudiants volontaires et travailleurs de la première année, ainsi que pour collaborer avec le metteur en scène Rafat Al-Aydi sur sa nouvelle production avec les étudiants de la deuxième année traitant le thème de l'imaginaire dans une communauté enfermée et sur le choix de trouver son propre chemin dans une zone en conflit. En outre j’ai eu l’opportunité d’apporter mon soutien à la préparation du festival de théâtre annuel de TDP, qui a débuté le 15 septembre. Un séjour intense dans lequel j'ai vu un peu plus de Gaza que les fois précédentes. En plus de rencontrer les personnes amicales et hospitalières, c'était choquant de vivre dans le chaos que cette situation complexe amène. Et cela se voit partout dans les rues à travers la pauvreté et le street art !!

(ENG) The first 2 weeks of September I was invited to Gaza (Palestine) by Theatre Day Productions* (TDP) to give a dance and theatre training to their eager and hard-working first-year students and to work with the director Rafat Al-Aydi on his new production with the second-year students on the theme of imagination in in a locked-up community and on choosing your own path in a conflict area. In between, there was the challenge to also offer support in the preparation of TDP's annual Drama Festival that started on September 15th. An intense stay in which I saw a bit more of Gaza than the previous times. Beside meeting with the friendly and hospitable people it was shocking to be in the chaos of this complex situation. And this is visible in the everywhere in the form of poverty and street art !!

(NL) Ik ben een nieuw onderzoek gestart in de peuterspeelzaal. Het project *Jong Beginnen van **2+ Producties biedt daarvoor ruimte. Eerder hebben Elian Smits en ik op dit innovatieve platform de participatieve performance ’Stip It' ontwikkeld wat afgelopen 2 april in première ging. Afgelopen maandag heb ik de danseres Maaike van de Westeringh meegenomen om samen naar mogelijkheden en mooie momenten te zoeken in relatie tot en met projecties. De kleine mensen, fantastische onderzoekers, deden ook mee.

(FR) J'ai commencé une nouvelle recherche artistique dans la crèche. Le projet *Jong beginnen de **2+ Producties offre de l'espace pour cela. Avant ça, Elian Smits et moi-même avions développé la performance participative 'Stip It' sur cette plate-forme innovante, qui a été créée le 2 avril. Lundi dernier, j'avais emmené la danseuse Maaike van de Westeringh pour chercher ensemble des opportunités et de beaux moments en relation avec et avec des projections. Les enfants, des chercheurs fantastiques, ont également participé.

(ENG) I started a new study in the kindergarten. The project *Jong Beginnen of **2+ Producties, offers room for this. Earlier on, Elian Smits and I developed the participatory performance 'Stip It' on this innovative platform, which premiered on the second of April. Last Monday I had taken the dancer Maaike van de Westeringh along to search together for opportunities and beautiful moments in relation to and with projections. And the small people, fantastic researchers, also participated.

*Jong beginnen: Within this project artists go in the neighbourhood, to the children. The artists work in classrooms or gyms in the kindergartens, where the parents are also very welcome. These can be visual artists, but also dancers, theater makers or musicians.

🇳🇱 Zo’n 6 maanden geleden werd ik uitgenodigd door mijn goede vriendin en collega Rita Vilhena om samen met een groep mensen ons bezig te houden met de woorden: ritueel, intimiteit, bio-energetica, meditatie, dans, contact-improvisatie en creatie. We zijn op weg!!!

Rita Vilhena: “Ergens in het midden van de Lousã-berg, in Portugal, is er een plek open voor mensen die willen creëren, dansen en delen. Deze plaats is een klein dorp Coentral Grande genaamd. Stel je een oude plaats voor, met een nog ouder bos, met een tiental huizen aan het einde van een vallei omringd door twee stromen water die daar zijn ontstaan en afdalen in verschillende kleine watervallen. Deze zuiverheid en voorouderlijk levendig fenomeen zijn een inspiratie. Het gesprek verdiept op een rauw, spontaan en natuurlijk niveau. Hier zijn de rituelen heel oud, van een tijd dat ze niet werden opgeschreven, ze gebeurden gewoon op natuurlijke wijze, voortkomend uit een plaats van diepe intimiteit met de aarde en een lichaam nog niet gescheiden van de rest. Deze intimiteit gebeurt gewoon, het kan niet anders zijn. Het is verbinding en pure creatie. Het programma wordt aangepast aan de ervaringen en wensen van de groep gedurende de vier dagen. We kunnen de berg beklimmen, in de rivier baden, achteruit door het bos rennen en dansen in de hal. We zullen ideeën, concepten, ervaringen bespreken en uitbreiden door middel van bio-energetica, meditatie en muziek.”

🇫🇷 Il y a environ 6 mois, j'ai été invité par ma bonne amie et collègue Rita Vilhena à travailler avec un groupe de personnes autour des mots suivants: rituel, intimité, bioénergie, méditation, danse, contact-improvisation et création. Nous sommes en route !!!

Rita Vilhena: “Quelque part au milieu de la montagne Lousã, au Portugal, il y a un endroit ouvert aux gens qui veulent créer, danser et partager. Cet endroit est un petit village qui s'appelle Coentral Grande. Imaginez un vieil endroit, avec une forêt encore plus vieille, avec une douzaine de maisons au bout d'une vallée entourée par deux courants qui descendent encoure plus bas via plusieurs petites cascades. Cette pureté et ce phénomène vivant ancestral sont une inspiration. La conversation s'approfondit sur un niveau brut, spontané et naturel. Ici les rituels sont très anciens, d'un temps où ils n'étaient pas écrits, qu’ils surgissaient naturellement, venant d'un lieu d'intimité profonde avec la terre et d'un corps pas encore séparé de tout le reste. Cette intimité arrive juste, il ne peut en être autrement. C'est la connexion et la création pure.
Le programme est adapté aux expériences et aux souhaits du groupe pendant les quatre jours. Nous pouvons escalader la montagne, nous baigner dans la rivière, courir à travers la forêt et danser dans le hall. Nous discuterons et développerons des idées, des concepts et des expériences à travers la bioénergétique, la méditation et la musique.”

🇬🇧About 6 months ago, my good friend and college Rita Vilhena invited me to join her and a group of people to work around the words : Ritual, intimacy, bioenergetics, meditation, dance, contact-improvisation and creation. We’re on our way now!!!!

Rita Vilhena: “Somewhere in the middle of the Lousã mountain, in Portugal, there is a place open to welcome people that want to create, dance and share. This place is a small village called Coentral Grande. Imagine an old place, with an even older forest, with a dozen of houses at the end of a valley surrounded by two streams of water that are born there, and descend into several small waterfalls. This purity and ancestral lively phenomenon is an inspiration, facilitating the communication on a more raw, spontaneous and natural level and therefore deeper as well.
Here the rituals are very ancient, from a time when they were not written, they just happened naturally, arising from a place of deep intimacy with the nature of a body not separated from everything else around. This intimacy just happens, it can not be otherwise. It is connection and pure creation.
The program will be adapted according to the experiences and wishes of the group over the four days. We can climb the mountain, bathe in the river, run backwards through the forest and dance in the hall. We will discuss ideas, concepts and experiences, expand through practices of bioenergetics, meditation and music.”

Child'space certificate!

🇳🇱Als danser en maker ben ik gefascineerd door het lichaam. Door het werk voor en met de allerkleinste mensen ben ik de *Child'Space methode gaan studeren.
Na 2 jaar studie, van de motorische ontwikkeling van mensen van nul tot twee jaar, diploma gehaald! Ik mag me nu officieel Child'Space practitioner noemen. Maar belangrijker nog, ik heb weer meer kennis over mijn publiek.
🇫🇷En tant que danseuse et metteur en scène, je suis fascinée par le corps humain. En raison de mon travail pour et avec les jeunes spectateurs, j'ai commencé à étudier la méthode *Child'Space. Après 2 ans d'études du développement de la motricité des enfants de zéro à deux ans, j'ai finalement obtenu mon certificat!
Je suis maintenant officiellement une praticienne de la méthode Child'Space. Mais plus important encore, j'ai plus de connaissances de mon public.

🇬🇧As a dancer and theatre maker I am fascinated by the body. Because of the work for and with younger people, I started studying the *Child'Space method.
After 2 years of study of the movement development of children from zero to two years, I finally graduated! I can now officially call myself a Child'Space practitioner. But more important, I have more knowledge about my audience now.

L'apothéose: Le printemps de Bourges

🇳🇱Twee jaar geleden plantten wij het zaadje voor MAZIMA*.
Het is inderdaad in april 2016 dat ik Esnam Dogbatse** vroeg of ze zin had om een muzikaal project voor een jong publiek op te zetten. Op zich zag ze dat wel zitten maar er waren teveel projecten in haar leven en bovendien was ik zwanger van mijn derde kind. We spraken af om later weer contact met elkaar op te nemen. Wat een paar maanden later gebeurde en toen bleek er ruimte in onze beider levens om er een samenwerking op te wagen. Ik heb het verhaal en de liedjes geschreven. Esinam heeft gecomponeerd en ons logo gecreëerd. We hebben een naam gevonden door onze namen en het woord muziek door elkaar te schudden. MAZIMA was geboren.
Na drie residenties; één op een school in Brussel; één in ‘La Maison Qui Chante’*** en één in ‘La Ferme Du Biereau’**** die bovendien co-producer is, hebben we afgelopen vrijdag (27.04) onze wereld première gehad op het fameuze Franse muziek festival 'Le printemps de Bourges’*****.
Het was super! Niet alleen was het stralend weer en was het fijn om met z'n allen op stap te zijn (wij tweeën , Thibault onze technicus, Cathy en Gabriel onze producenten) . Maar ook is onze show “L’Envol” enthousiast ontvangen door een talrijk , meezingend en klappend publiek.
Ik verheug me zo om samen met jullie het vervolg van dit nieuwe muziek avontuur te ontdekken. De volgende afspraak is op 25 augustus gedurende het Kidzik festival in La Ferme Du Biereau.

🇫🇷 Il y a deux ans, nous avons planté les graines du projet MAZIMA *.
C'est en effet en avril 2016 que j'ai demandé à Esnam Dogbatse ** si elle voulait monter un projet musical pour un jeune public. Cela l’intéressait mais il y avait trop de projets dans sa vie et d'ailleurs, j'étais moi-même enceinte de mon troisième enfant. Nous sommes convenues de nous contacter à nouveau plus tard. Ce qui s'est passé quelques mois après et là il semblait y avoir de la place dans nos deux vies pour tenter la collaboration. J'ai écrit l'histoire et les paroles des chansons. Esinam a composé la musique et créé notre logo. Nous avons trouvé un nom en mélangeant nos noms et le mot musique. MAZIMA était né.
Après trois résidences; une dans une école à Bruxelles; une à “La Maison Qui Chante”*** et une à “La Ferme du Biéreau” **** qui est également co-producteur, nous avons vendredi dernier (27.04) eu notre première mondiale durant le célèbre festival Français de musique “Le printemps de Bourges”*****.
C'était super! Non seulement il faisait beau et c'était bien d'être ensemble (nous deux, Thibault notre régisseur, Cathy et Gabriel nos producteurs). Mais notre spectacle-concert "L'Envol" a également été reçu avec enthousiasme par un public nombreux, chantant et battant des mains.
Je suis impatiente de découvrir avec vous la suite de cette nouvelle aventure musicale. Le prochain rendez-vous est le 25 août lors du festival Kidzik à La Ferme Du Biereau.

🇬🇧 Two years ago, we planted the seeds of MAZIMA *.
It was indeed in April 2016 that I asked Esnam Dogbatse ** if she wanted to set up a musical project for a young audience. She was interested, but she had too many projects in her life at that moment and besides, I myself was pregnant with my third child. We agreed to talk about it later. Which happened a few months later and then there seemed to be room in both our lives to collaborate. I wrote the story and the lyrics. Esinam composed the music and created our logo. We found a name by mixing the letters of our names and the word music. MAZIMA was born.
After three residencies; one in a school in Brussels; one in "La Maison qui Chante" *** and one in "La Ferme du Biéreau" **** which is also our co-producer, we had our world premier last Friday (27.04) at the famous French music festival " Le printemps de Bourges "*****.
It was great! Not only was the weather wonderful and was it so fun to be together (both of us, Thibault our stage manager, Cathy and Gabriel our producers). But our show "L'Envol" was also received with great enthusiasm by a large, singing and clapping audience.
I can not wait to discover along with you the rest of this new musical adventure. The next appointment is on the 25th of August at the Kidzik festival at La Ferme Du Biereau.
